Core Values

Every church has core principles that shape how they faithfully carry out the mission of God. These deeply embedded convictions get expressed in everything a church says and does. Rooted in Gospel-centrality, River City Church seeks to outline its convictions in these four statements:

Gospel Word

Word – We hold the Word of God (The Bible) as our ultimate authority in all matters of life. We believe in teaching it when we gather as a large group, wrestling over it in small group community, and integrating it into the everyday.

Worship – Gathering together for singing, teaching and prayer strengthens our commitment to one another and to the mission of Jesus to “seek and save the lost” by celebrating the Glory of God in the face of Christ Jesus.

Gospel Mission

Community – “The Church” isn’t a building but is made up of people. We are to take seriously the charge of caring for one another. This is the main place for encouragement, accountability, and discipleship.

Mercy – “The Church” also isn’t a club for the “in” at the expense of the outsider. Jesus is clear that part of the Church’s job is to have compassion for “the least of these”

Why Gospel Centered?

We strive for gospel-centered because the gospel of Jesus Christ stands at the center of God’s redemptive plan, and in it we see Him most clearly for Who He is and what He has done.
