Advent 2017

Advent is a time of anticipation... of waiting.

For generations God's people waited for the promised Messiah. Would God answer their prayers? Would He finally raise up one who would be their redeemer forever? At the appointed time, God the Son took on human flesh and was born of a Virgin so save His people from their sin.

It is easy in the hustle and consumerism of Christmas in the western world to lose sight of what it is we're trying to remember and celebrate. It is also easy, on this side of the cross and the empty tomb, to lose our ability to wait for have full trust in God's faithfulness and for his promises to be realized.

God's people waited years for the Messiah to come and today God's people wait, not for the Messiah to be revealed, because we know Him, but for the Messiah to come again and bring the consumation of peace forever.

As we approach Advent we want to take a posture of humility and anticipation. To help with that, we've revised our Advent Family Worship guide that walks us through the grand story of redemption leading the Advent of Jesus Christ. Each day from December 1st to December 25th there is some scripture, quesitons for applicaiton, and prayer.

We hope you are encouraged as you wait in anticipation for the exaltation of Christ in your hearts and lives.
